While my students were busy working on their art project, I started my own. Well, actually our art teacher gave me a piece of paper and challenged me to do the project. Normally, I'm attending to my charges, but when they are engaged & don't need me, I can do my own thing. So after many art class periods and after the school year was over, I finally finished...mostly. There was a next step but since I don't remember what it was, I'm declaring it finished. :) I used a fat tipped Sharpie, opaque watercolors and salt.

Smokey Chicken Fajitas...Zentangle Style!
Diva Challenge #236
Completed: 9-23-2015Tangles: scena, half moon, jetties, poke leaf, meer, printemps, jax
The Diva had a really neat challenge:
"SO this week, tangle on something unexpected!! Maybe it's a page from an old phone book? Or that chinese take out menu hanging on your fridge. Maybe it's a dinner plate or a clock face. Maybe it's a piece of clothing? Maybe it's a piece of junk mail? It can be anything! So get tangling!"So, looking around I saw receipts, bills (yuck), magazines, and last week's recipe from Hello Fresh. I thought, "the fajitas were great, maybe it will work with a tangle or two." I had a LOT of fun with this.

Diva Challenge #233
The Diva is back!
Completed: 9-13-2015Tangles: zenith, jetties, paradox, poke leaf, meer, printemps, bead line
The Diva challenged us to use a new tangle she learned at CanTangle called Zenith. It's easy to do, but I couldn't figure out how to do more than overlapping them.
I fell into a "natural" string. By that I mean the points of zenith gave a natural place to create sections of different tangles. That happened on the top part (as oriented), but I wanted the other half more open, hence the beaded lines.
It took me two weeks to finish this, so I never uploaded it to the Diva's site. The daily school schedule is soooo crazy and overwhelming that my old eyes are too tired to focus in the evening. So, tangling is becoming a weekend affair.

Diva Challenge #231
Guest Blogger: Sharla Hicks, CZT
My challenge to you this week is to use an old favorite undulating C or S curve tangle and work in a series OR find a new one and begin a new series.Completed: 8-20-2015
Tangles: isochor, gra-vee
I was feeling kind of minimalist and only chose 2 tangles...amazing for me! I wanted to give the renaissance tile another chance. Still not feeling it. The paper is just not as dense as the regular white tile. Today's my last day of summer (it wasn't long enough!), so maybe that got into my tangling mood. <<sigh>>

Diva Challenge #229
Guest Blogger: Sandy Hunter, CZT
I tend to make my tangles really busy. Sometimes I have to stop myself from tangling until my tile is more black than white, because all those little nooks and crannies are just so FUN to fill in! Every now and then, though, it’s refreshing to change it up (“Put the pen down and back away slowly!”) and leave some negative (white) space for the eye to rest.
>Shift your focus to the negative space, so the white part of your tile is the focus of your tangle.
Ponder the possibilities… what will your string be?
Completed: 8-9-2015
Tangles: maelstrom, paradox, jax, kandysnake
Here's my challenge tile. I chose not to have a recognizable negative space...just something more like a window to another layer. I like negative space in art, but I have a hard time when I'm tangling! I just had to add jax...couldn't help myself. (See Tile #10 for my "B" tile.)
